While deciding what kind of fun trouble to get in to on our bikes and feet this weekend, my friend and I stumbled upon the Bicycling and Walking in the United States 2010 Benchmarking Report. And by "stumble" I mean "deliberately downloaded it" because I'm a statistics nerd. Funded by the CDC, it's a pretty comprehensive report.
Listed in the report are the top cities that bike to work. Our home city of Atlanta comes in at number twenty-four. Interestingly enough, Atlanta takes the number 1 spot for Per Capita Funding for Cycling. Hopefully this means that Atlanta is realizing the need for more bike lanes and city-cycling education.
Top US Cities That Bike To Work:
Portland, OR
Minneapolis
San Francisco
Seattle
Tucson
Sacramento
Washington, DC
New Orleans
Denver
Mesa
How does your city stack up?
